,Mr. Sweet maintains professional affiliations with the Society of Composers, Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honor Society, and Oklahoma City Pianists' Club.
In addition to composing and performing, Paul maintains a small piano studio in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area.
Mr. Sweet earned his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in piano performance from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Oklahoma. He has studied with David Forbat, Valery Kuleshov, Peggy Spence, and Leon Whitesell.
An avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoys hiking, kayaking, camping, and many other outdoor activities. Hobbies include urban gardening and tending to his chicken coop. He, his partner, David Kindred, and their three Pomeranian dogs call Tulsa, Oklahoma home.
Composer, pianist, and pedagogue Paul Sweet has earned regional acclaim as a multitalented musician. He is frequently invited to perform with singers, instrumentalists, and ensembles in Oklahoma and he surrounding region. Paul's recent work as a pianist includes collaborations with the Tulsa Symphony,Tulsa Camerata, Council Oak Men's Chorale, legendary country/bluegrass fiddler Jana Jae, numerous solo recitals, and the release of his first studio recording, Rejoice and Be Merry. Mr. Sweet was the invited guest soloist at the 2013 Oklahoma Haydn Festival and, in 2011, he gave the North American premiere of Alec Rowley's Piano Concerto in D on a concert tour of the American southwest.
As a composer, Paul has written works that have been performed across North America, Europe, and Asia. His catalogue of original compositions includes music for orchestra, wind symphony, chorus, chamber ensembles, and solo instruments. Many of his piano solos and duets are available from Piano Pronto Publishing in Temecula, California.
