Mechanix is a piece for three percussionists written in the form of a chaconne.  A theme is given and repeated throughout over increasingly intricate and chromatic filagree.  The effect is nothing short of magic.  

Mechanix came about after I dreamt of a tiny machine with a single gear building itself piece by piece.  As they are added, cogs and pins and wheels whirl and spin, setting off a million tiny reactions.  In the end, the machine slowly began to disassemble itself, eventually returning to its original form.
