Composer, Pianist, Teacher
Piano Requiem was written as a reaction to the horrible massacre at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. I built the piece around 49 bell-like "tolls," one for each of the victims. A somber opening and closing chorale frames a somewhat lighter middle section that imagines a bright future, but one can hear that future slip away as the first theme reappears with the now familiar tolls. It is my hope that this piece speaks to those for whom words hold little solace. My heart goes out to you, and I promise to do my part to live and love authentically and boldly so that everyone might see that love will conquer hate.
